Lupolen 2221F is a fractional melt index homopolymer LDPE resin designed for film applications requiring an excellent balance of clarity, stiffness, shrink and strength. 2221F is selected by customers for collation shrink films, pallet shrink films, packaging films and heavy duty films where clarity and stiffness are important. 2221F contains an antioxidant.

Data obtained from 50 micron film produced on a 50 mm extruder with a 100 mm die, 205°C melt temperature, 2.5:1 BUR, 0.635 mm die gap at 27 kg/hr. These are typical property values not to be construed as specification limits.

Processing Techniques

Users should determine the conditions necessary to obtain optimum product properties and suitability of the product for the intended application. In cases where higher temperatures are required, please contact your appropriate technical contact for support.

Health and Safety:

The resin is manufactured to the highest standards, but special requirements apply to certain applications such as food end-use contact and direct medical use. For specific information on regulatory compliance contact your local representative Workers should be protected from the possibility of skin or eye contact with molten polymer. Safety glasses are suggested as a minimal precaution to prevent mechanical or thermal injury to the eyes.

Molten polymer may be degraded if it is exposed to air during any of the processing and off-line operations. The products of degradation may have an unpleasant odor. In higher concentrations they may cause irritation of the mucus membranes. Fabrication areas should be ventilated to carry away fumes or vapours. Legislation on the control of emissions and pollution prevention should be observed.

The resin will burn when supplied with excess heat and oxygen. It should be handled and stored away from contact with direct flames and/or ignition sources. While burning, the resin contributes high heat and may generate a dense black smoke

Recycled resins may have previously been used as packaging for, or may have otherwise been in contact with, hazardous goods. Converters are responsible for taking all necessary precautions to ensure that recycled resins are safe for continued use.

DESCRIPTION

Lotrène® FD0270 is an additive free grade mainly recommended for the extrusion of thin film for light and medium duty applications.

PROPERTIES

The molecular structure of Lotrène® FD0270 makes it possible to produce very thin, clear and glossy films.

PROCESSING

• Lotrène® FD0270 can be easily processed on all types of extruders to make blown or cast films.
• The melt temperature is suggested to be in the range of 140-150 °C.
• The best properties of the blown film are achieved at blow up ratios between 2:1 and 3:1.
• The recommended thickness range is from 20 μm to 100 μm

HANDLING & STORAGE

Polyethylene products should be stored in their original packaging or in clean appropriate silos. The products should be stored in a dry and well-ventilated area and should not be exposed to direct sunlight and/ or heat in any form since this may adversely affect their properties. As a general rule, our products should not be stored for more than three months from receipt date.

SAFETY

This grade is developed for the production of packaging film with good optical properties for shrink wraps and medium duty film applications.

FT5230 contains no additives.

PROCESSING GUIDELINES

FT5230 can be processed easily on most types of blown film equipment such as LDPE, LLDPE or HDPE extruders.

Recommended processing conditions:

Melt temperature 160 –190°C

Die gap > 1.0 mm

FLH: > 2 DD

BUR: > 2:1

FOOD CONTACT REGULATIONS

FT5230 fulfils the food contact regulations in most countries. If required, contact your Borouge representative for a certificate.

The product should be stored in dry conditions at temperatures below 50°C and protected from UV-light. Improper storage can initiate degradation, which results in odour generation and colour changes and can have negative effects on the physical properties of this product.

SAFETY

The product is not classified as a hazardous mixture.

Dust and fines from the product carry a risk of dust explosion. All equipment should be properly earthed. Inhalation of dust should be avoided as it may cause irritation of the respiratory system. Small amounts of fumes are generated during processing of the product. Proper ventilation is therefore required

RECYCLING

The product is suitable for recycling using modern methods of shredding and cleaning. In-house production waste should be kept clean to facilitate direct recycling.

These are film grades and can be processed easily on conventional blown film lines. J1020FS20 has been blended with necessary additives during manufacture to obtain good surface slip and easy open-ability. J1020FA20 is manufactured without any additive to facilitate adhesion during lamination.

APPLICATIONS:

Slip grade for Mono & Co-extruded film / Cast film, liner film and non-slip grade for adhesive lamination, hygiene & air bubble film.

Typical Process Conditions:

• Melt Temperature (˚C) - 160 – 200
• Recommended Blow Up Ratio (BUR): 1.5 – 3.0 (Based on applications, best results achieved with BUR of 2.5 : 1)
• Die Gap – > 0.8 mm (Based on film thickness and throughput of the machine)

Regulatory Information

• Meets the requirements stipulated in standard IS: 10146 on "Specification for Polyethylene for safe use in contact with foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, and drinking water". It also conforms to IS 16738:2018 “Positive List of Constituents for Polypropylene, Polyethylene and their Copolymers for its Safe Use in Contact with Foodstuffs and Pharmaceuticals”
• The grade and the additives incorporated in it also comply with the FDA: CFR Title 21,177.1520, Olefin polymers.
